Walnut Harvest

  • South Whidbey Tilth 2812 Thompson Road Langley, WA 98260 (map)

Join us to harvest the walnuts before the squirrels and raccoons get them all. We’ll be picking and cleaning the crop. For details contact Prescott or call 360-682-8642.

The walnut tree is located just above the market area, to the west.

  • take orchard ladder and rakes to the large walnut tree with buckets and wheelbarrows

  • wear garden gloves and pruners to cope with encroaching backberries

  • set up wire mesh soil grates on saw horses behind the rest room or possibly the wash sink in the garden.

  • wash and clean walnuts with paint mixers. We need a couple of good drills to power the paint mixer. More paint mixers too would be nice.

  • small metal garbage cans to wash the walnuts in.

  • spread walnuts in classroom shelves to dry for several weeks

  • shelling parties can happen during the market later.
