Poison Hemlock Removal Work Party

We have an infestation of poison hemlock in the grass strip along Thompson Road and we need volunteers for a work party to remove it. This is a Tilth campus issue and not specifically a community garden one so we're looking for volunteers from the greater membership. If you can help out, please respond to Don dfk@donkrafft.com or Jean jstark250488@comcast.net.  Late deciders and walk-ins are welcome.

Here's some information on this pest weed from WSU: https://hortsense.cahnrs.wsu.edu/fact-sheet/weeds-poison-hemlock-conium-maculatum/ and from Wikipedia:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conium_maculatum.

Volunteers should wear long sleeve clothing and gloves. If we pull the plants up by the base, we can minimize airborne contact with its toxins. If you have experience managing poison hemlock, that would be additionally helpful. We will provide contractor bags for collecting the material and we'll dispose of it at the toxic weed disposal facility at the Transfer Station in Coupeville.
