Gearing Up for the Market

Our Market Committee chair, Pam Nodus, reported a successful year for the 2022 market with healthy numbers of vendors, visitors, sales and, most importantly, the activities that make the market so much more than a place to shop. In 2023, we plan to continue events such as the monthly scavenger hunts, Bingo, story times, food demonstrations and more.

Special events planned so far include Maypole-winding on opening day (April 30), and a sachet-making workshop for kids on Mother’s Day (May 14).

Master Gardeners will be on hand in the plant clinic throughout May and June to answer your gardening questions.

Kirstin Clausen, who is continuing as Market Manager, is arranging for another season of live music at every market. The South Whidbey Acoustic Music Festival–The Tilth Fair Edition returns this year on July 9. Organized by Bekah Zachritz, we will celebrate women in music on Whidbey Island.

Don’t miss out! You can see the evolving music and activity schedule on the market page of the website at southwhidbeytilth.org/market.

The Tilth Market is special, even more so when you participate in the activities. Let Pam and Kirstin know how you’d like to join in: market@southwhidbeytilth.org.

As well as our returning vendors, Kirstin announces several new vendors this year:

Chef in the Black Bandana sells smoked sandwiches as well as take-away pastas, sauces and focaccias, which include gluten-free and vegan options, using family recipes and local ingredients.

Wildly Beloved Pasta has organic packaged pastas for sale to cook at home.

Eat Salinity provides raw shucked oysters to enjoy on-site or by the bag. The oysters are locally sourced from tribal growers Swinomish Shellfish and Skagit Shellfish. Check our website for more information on the oysters: About Eat Salinity.

Windward Way Farm from Coupeville sells fresh-cut flowers starting in July.

The Spectral Cottage makes handcrafted potions including balms, oils, sprays, wooden wands, pendulums, bath teas and herbal teas for altar use.

Wandering Rabbit Creations has their own booth this year (last year they were part of Momma and Me Vibrations 2 Bee) with knitwear, crochet fashion, self-published zines and art.

Art sessions are offered by Louise Holloway-Stanley at her booth when she comes to the market. She’ll supply watercolors, pastels and paper. Feel free to bring your own favorite medium.

SNAP and FMNP still welcome and matched at the Tilth Market in 2023
