Local filmmakers Mark Dworkin and Melissa Young of Moving Images Video Project will be screening their short documentary film, Works for All, about the impact of a remarkable network of worker Co-Ops based in Cincinnati, Ohio on the lives of people often marginalized by the mainstream economy. The documentary showcases the leadership of women, immigrants, and the BIPOC community in Co-Ops across many sectors, including farming, food distribution, childcare, T-shirt printing, home insulation, solar installations, etc. What would it take to develop more cooperative businesses on Whidbey? Special guest speaker, Luis Sierra, a Co-Op development specialist from the Northwest Cooperative Development Center in Olympia, will give a brief talk about Co-Ops in Washington state, and the resources that the Development Center can offer. There will be time for questions and discussion. The Whidbey Institute will provide coffee, tea, and water. Please bring snacks to share!
