What if the solutions to some of our biggest challenges like food insecurity, environmental degradation and community resilience were already written into the patterns of nature?

South Whidbey Tilth is hosting a permaculture class by Penny Livingston. The cost is $25 for Tilth members ($30 for Tilth member couples) and $30 for the general public. Please register here.

She will share some of the principles, methods and strategies about permaculture design and how to work with natural ecosystems rather than against them. This solution based design system is more than gardening tips. It is about re-establishing a beneficial relationship with the living natural world surrounding us. Through inspiring examples and practical insights, you’ll discover how forests, watersheds and thriving natural communities can teach us to create abundant gardens, sustainable farms and regenerative human habitats. Permaculture principles can transform how we think about energy, food, water and our relationship to the living world. Prepare to see nature as a mentor offering timeless lessons in sustainability, abundance and regeneration rather than a resource to be managed.

Penny Livingston is internationally recognized as a prominent permaculture teacher, designer, practitioner and speaker. She holds a master in science degree in Eco-Social Regeneration and a diploma in Permaculture Design. Penny is a graduate of the Arven School of Herbal Medicine in Germany and holds diplomas in permaculture design and education through Permaculture Institute of North America and Permaculture Institute USA.

Penny has been teaching permaculture and community resiliency internationally as well as working professionally in the land management, regenerative design, and permaculture development field for over 30 years. She has extensive experience in all phases of ecologically sound design and construction as well as the use of natural non-toxic building materials.

She is currently serving as a supervisor board member of the Whidbey Island Conservation District. She also sits on the board of Sweet Child Peru.

Penny is currently working at a Permaculture Instructor with Ecoversity an online earth based educational organization.
