WHidbey Island is alive with nature-based climate solutions! Every tree, every plant is an air conditioner. Every critter offers its life back to soil and sea. The capacity of our PNW temperate rainforest to sequester carbon and stabilize the climate is enormous.

According to our April presenter, Michael Pilarski, the best and fastest way to heal our planet is what we can do ourselves: regenerate our soil, plants, water cycles, and creatures — and we know how.  Michael is a "plant geek" committed to spreading knowledge of projects working successfully to to restore Planet Earth.

Our recent Island Conversations have focused on the resilience of our island, honoring the seeds that have been sown, the organizations and individuals doing the work. Last month we placed ourselves in our bioregion, zooming in on our most-loved places, and naming our working circles that protect these places. This month, Michael will inspire us to "Green the earth to cool the earth!" And we'll get a sneak peek at the upcoming Global Earth Repair Convergence in Port Townsend, May 7 –11.

Paul Hawken says "An EV is not the only way."
Rob Lewis says "Save what's left and restore the rest."
Permaculturists say "The answer is at our feet."

Michael "Skeeter" Pilarski is one of North America’s permaculture pioneers. He has taught extensively in the fields of regenerative farming, permaculture, medicinal herbs, plant spirit medicine, native plants, plant propagation, ethnobotany, forestry, sustainable wildcrafting, agroforestry, medicinal food forests and more. Michael’s current focus is researching and promoting planetary regeneration and climate stabilization. He is the convener of three Global Earth Repair Convergences.

Carpool Option!  If you pass the Bayview Park & Ride (at Bayview Rd and Hwy 525) at 5:35-5:40 on your way to Langley, please check to see if anyone is heading our way in order to carpool. Every car that stays at Bayview will avoid 8 miles of driving!
