Snacks & Social 5:45 ~ Program 6–8pm (we start on time)
Last month, we talked about re-directing and re-structuring our investments. can we harness more financial flow toward our common goals of affordable housing, healthy children, and a livable climate? This month we continue exploring using the tools we have to build a flourishing community through investing— figuratively and literally—in each other.
In this “season of giving,” we have an opportunity to give to ourselves with deliberate choices about where we spend our money—on gifts, entertainment, festive gatherings, traditions, and for some of us, those year-end charitable donations.
While the effects of our careful climate-focused actions may seem more long-term, the effects of our day-to-day spending choices are absolutely immediate. Are our dollars flying away to enrich Costco, Amazon, and Walmart, or swooping merrily around Whidbey, enriching our way of life?
Join us as we focus on how our dollars spent here recirculate on-island many times, supporting local businesses and their employees, bolstering the livelihoods of families, farmers, artists and authors, book stores and gift shops, service providers and galleries and makers and sellers of things we want and need.... all the while reducing our climate impacts. Come learn about the Local Multiplier Effect and how it benefits all of us.
Bring your friends and your good cheer, and be prepared to share your favorite Whidbey Island crafters, suppliers, restaurants, entertainments, charities, etc. Let’s make a huge BUY-LOCAL list that we can share/publish!
Imagine how much richer our community will be if all of our Holiday spending happens here on the Island, and the profits enjoyed are also invested here. What a beautiful gift to ourselves in this beautiful season!

Carpool Option! If you pass the Bayview Park & Ride (at Bayview Rd and Hwy 525) at 5:35-5:40 on your way to Langley, please check to see if anyone is heading our way in order to carpool. Every car that stays at Bayview will avoid 8 miles of driving!
Meeting the challenge of climate change in our own community.
